Online CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) can be helpful to treat people suffering from insomnia, which can reduce mental health problems like depression and anxiety, say scientists.
The researchers of Oxford University have recently come up with their findings that treating people with sleeping disorder can help in reducing psychotic symptoms like paranoia and hallucination.
People with mental health disorders have common symptoms like sleeping disorder, which is not a cause of psychological difficulty.
A study was conducted on more than 3,000 students where the students were divided into two groups. One group had access to six online CBT sessions, whereas the other group had access to standard care but not CBT.
Freeman, a professor of clinical psychology and his team, monitored the students consistently for 22 weeks with a series of questionnaires online.
In this research for 22 weeks, they have found that students who have undergone CBT sleep treatment have reduced their insomnia and showed significant improvement in reducing symptoms like paranoia and hallucination.
People who are facing other mental issues like depression, anxiety, psychological health disorders and nightmares can also see improvement after CBT treatment, said Dr. Freeman.
